At the request of several citizens of this place, whose opinions we highly respect, we have discontinued the Advertisement of Christopher McPherson, announcing that he had opened a School, under the immediate direction of a respectable White man, for the education of free blacks, &c. They deem it impolitic and highly improper that such an institution should exist in the City. Our own most deliberate opinion however is, that education, in all countries, in all situations, and under all circumstances, has been and will continue to be attended with the happiest effects on the minds and manners and a blessing to that people or society who patronize it.
