Studies in Bibliography

Studies in Bibliography, published annually by the Bibliographical Society of the University of Virginia, was founded in 1948 by Fredson Bowers, a professor of English at the university. It quickly established an international reputation and has long been regarded as one of the major journals on the analysis of books as physical objects, the study of the transmission of texts, and the preparation of scholarly editions.
