Housing Conditions in Philadelphia
Emily W. Diniwddie's Housing Conditions in Philadelphia (1904) presents the findings of an investigation she conducted about living conditions for the poor in Philadelphia. The study was under the direction of the Octavia Hill Association, a private organization devoted to improving urban housing. In her forty-two-page publication, Dinwiddie pointed out the lack of proper ventilation and sanitation in dwellings for the city's poorest residents.
