Presidential Pardon Granted to J. L. M. Curry
By this official document, President Andrew Johnson grants a full pardon and amnesty to J. L. M. Curry for having taken "part in the late rebellion against the Government of the United States." The executive clemency was contingent upon Curry taking a prescribed oath of allegiance to the United States; the pardon would be revoked if, at any time thereafter, Curry acquired enslaved people or made use of slave labor.
