GROWN LADIES &c. taught to DANCE

A 1769 hand-colored engraving shows a London dance master teaching a middle-aged matron the latest dance steps as two young girls watch with amusement. Virginia modeled itself after England, where dancing was hugely popular, and professional dance instructors brought the most up-to-date dances from Europe to the colony.
