Peter Jones’s Registration Renewal as a Free Black

An entry from a page in the Hustings Court Registry of Free Negroes and Mulattoes in Petersburg notes that on July 7, 1856, Peter Jones renewed his registration as a free Black person in compliance with state law. The record notes that Jones was born free in Petersburg and that he bore scars on his left knee and right foot.
