Construction of the North Anna Power Station

The Virginia Electric and Power Company (later Dominion Power) dammed the North Anna River in Louisa County beginning in 1968 to provide cooling water for the North Anna Nuclear Generating Station. The first unit at North Anna went into operation in June 1978; this photo from December of that year shows the construction of two additional units.
