Obituary for Robert Peel Brooks

The newspaper headline for Robert Peel Brooks's obituary in the February 14, 1885, edition of the New York Freeman, reads, "A Meteor That Flashed With Marvellous Brilliancy."  Brooks, an African American lawyer and Republican Party leader from Richmond, was not yet twenty-nine years old when he died.
