Observations on the Writings of Thomas Jefferson

This is the title page of Henry Lee's Observations on the Writings of Thomas Jefferson, With Particular Reference to the Attack They Contain on the Memory of the Late Gen. Henry Lee (1832). Lee was a son of the Revolutionary War hero known as "Light-Horse Harry" Lee. The younger Lee wrote this book in response to Thomas Jefferson Randolph's four-volume text about Thomas Jefferson, which sharply criticized Light-Horse Harry Lee. In turn, Lee used his own book to attack Thomas Jefferson.
