Anatomical Theatre Demolition (Image 2)
On June 16, 1939, workers demolish the Anatomical Theatre, the only Jefferson-designed building at the university to be razed. The rationale for its removal was to enhance the view of the newly constructed Alderman Library, the colonnaded building behind it.
