Wilson Cary Nicholas

Wilson Cary Nicholas, who served as governor of Virginia (1814–1816), as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1807–1809), and as a U.S. senator (1799–1804), is the subject of this portrait by William Ludwell Sheppard, which is a copy of one made by Gilbert Stuart in 1805. The painting is part of the Commonwealth of Virginia's art collection.
