An unidentified soldier holds a Krag rifle with a fixed bayonet in this full-length portrait taken in Tampa, Florida, during the Spanish-American War. That model rifle was then standard issue for U.S. soldiers. "American Regular Army, Private c. 1898" is inscribed in ink on the back of the photograph.
