Y6 Locomotive Coming from the Washing Plant, Bluefield, WV, 1955

This photograph shows a class Y6 locomotive after receiving a pressure wash. The train appears fully shrouded in steam. The Norfolk & Western washing plant used a combination of steam, hot water, and kerosene to clean the engines. Link lit the scene from both the front and back of the engine to emphasize the steam against a black background.
