William Windom

William Windom, a Republican from Minnesota who served two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, three terms in the U.S. Senate, and twice as U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under two different presidents, is the subject of this formal portrait. Windom's name (seen in reverse) is etched into the emulsion at the top of the glass-plate negative. This image is part of the Brady-Handy photograph collection at the Library of Congress.
