From The Cradle of the Republic: Jamestown and the James River by Lyon Gardiner Tyler (1900)
The other day we posted Virginia Map #1, from a textbook by J. A. C. Chandler. This book’s author, Mr. Tyler, was Mr. Chandler’s predecessor as president of the College of William and Mary, and he was the founder of the William and Mary Quarterly. In addition, he was the son of President John Tyler, and two of Lyon’s sons are still alive today.
This is one in a series of posts that pays homage to The Art of Google Books.
