The Virginia Hotel in Chicago

An 1893 illustrated brochure advertising the Virginia Hotel in Chicago shows the upscale hotel on the corner of Ohio and Rush streets—the former site of Leander McCormick's burned-down mansion. The description beneath the image boasts that the hotel has 400 "absolutely fire-proof" rooms. McCormick owned the hotel, lived in it, and died there on February 20, 1900.
