Traverse Benjamin Pinn Sr.

This is the only known surviving photograph of Traverse Benjamin Pinn Sr., a Black statesman, entrepreneur, and inventor. He is wearing a dark suit and tie, and his hair is pulled back. The photograph was most likely taken around 1885. Pinn was killed in an apparent homicide in March of 1888.
