Skirmish at Richmond Jan. 5th. 1781

This map, drawn by a “Lt. Allans” of the Queens Rangers, a Loyalist regiment of the British Army during the American Revolution (1775–1783), appeared in British commander John Graves Simcoe’s 1787 Journal of the Operations of the Queen's Rangers. It shows the location and movement of troops at the skirmish at Richmond on January 5, 1781. The map is watercolored, with Continental forces appearing in yellow, and British forces appearing in red, blue, and green.
