“Romero Presente”

This political poster shows a colorful illustration of a Salvadoran woman nursing a child in front of a monochrome photograph of a religious procession mourning the military assassination of Archbishop Óscar Romero during the Salvadoran Civil War. Chicano artist Juan R. Fuentez created this poster in 1992, at the close of the war. It includes a warning poem dedicated “to the soldiers of El Salvador who from 1933 to 1980 have ruled the country through a military dictatorship.”
