I Nancy Tarrant of the town of Hampton in the County of Elizabeth City and the State of Virignia in order to make such disposition of my estate as I wish to take effect on my decease do make publish and declare this writing as and for my last will and Testament. First I hereby manumit, emancipate, and set free, my niece Louisa and her child George. Secondly I lend to my said niece Louisa One room in my house and give to her my said niece Louisa, a bed and bed furniture to her and her heirs forever. Thirdly I give to my husband Jim Baily for and during the term of his natural life, my house and lot and all my furniture with exception of the room loaned to my niece Louisa and the bed and furniture given to her. This property is given to my said husband Jim Baily for the term of his natural life upon the express condition that he support and take care of my said niece Louisa and her child George. Fourthly it is my will and desire that the balance which may be due on Mr Robt. A. Armisteads land for three hundred and fifty nine dollars and thirty three cents after paying out the principal thereof of Dr Banks Medical account against me, shall remain in the hands of the said Robt A. Armistead’s until the death of my said husband Jim Baily [illegible] upon the of which I give to my said husband same conditions above mentioned. But he is

to receive no part of the principal thereof. Fifthly After the death of my husband Jim Baily, it is my will and desire that all the property hereby loaned to him, both real and personal be sold and the money arising from such sale together with the balance remaining due on Mr Robt. A. Armistead’s land after paying Dr Banks Account as aforesaid be divided into three equal parts, one part or third of which I give and bequeath to my said niece Louisa to her and her heirs forever, and the remaining two thirds it is my desire that my executor hereinafter named apply towards the purchase of my nephew Matt belonging to Mr Edward King and my niece Jane now owned by Capt Harding which said Matt and Jane it is my will and desire may be purchased and liberated, by my said Executor. And lastly I nominate and appoint Mr Robt. A. Armistead Executor to this my last will and Testament and having the fullest confidence in his integrity, I request that he may be permitted to qualify as such without being required to give security.

The foregoing will of Nancy Tarrant dec’d together with the certificates thereon being found by me in the bundle of wills among the records of my office and the Will Book in which it was recorded having been destroyed and the same being known by me to be genuine, at the request of Jane Shields I have recorded the same in the Will Book of my office.
