Portrait of Francis Fauquier
Francis Fauquier, the lieutenant governor of Virginia from 1758 until his death in 1768, is the subject of this portrait by the English artist Benjamin Wilson. The painting is part of the collections at the original Foundling Hospital in London, which was founded in 1739 for the care of abandoned babies or those at risk. Fauquier served as a governor for the hospital and on its managerial board for two terms.
