“Poor Orphan Child”

The Carter Family sings "Poor Orphan Child" in this original recording made in Bristol, Virginia-Tennessee, in 1927. A field unit from the Victor Talking Machine Company in Camden, New Jersey, had come to the mountain town to record musicians from the region. This is one of the earliest recordings made of the Carter Family, who later became country music legends.
