Pentagon Press Conference 9/11

This image shows the Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld speaking at a press conference in the Pentagon press room on September 11, 2001. To Rumsfeld’s right stands Army general Henry Shelton and to his left stands John Warner and Carl Levin. Warner chaired the Senate Armed Services Committee up until June 6, 2001, when Levin took the role, with Warner as the committee’s ranking minority member. This press conference took place before the fires at the Pentagon from the September 11th attacks were fully extinguished, and while, as Rumsfeld said in his statement, they were “still taking bodies out of the building.”
