Peckatone

This artist’s rendering of Peckatone was completed for the 1957 book Lee Chronicle: Studies of the Early Generations of the Lees of Virginia by Cazenove Gardner Lee Jr. and compiled and edited by Dorothy Mills Parker. Gawin Corbin Sr. constructed the mansion house of Peckatone Plantation around 1750 in lower Westmoreland County on the Potomac River. His son Gawin inherited the property shortly after its construction, and after his death his widow Hannah Lee Corbin controlled the property. A large house of English brick stone with an exterior kitchen and slave quarters, the main house passed through several families before its destruction by fire in 1887.
