A Royal Procession

Queen Elizabeth I is carried aloft by her courtiers as she makes her way through the streets of England en route to the estate of her cousin Henry Carey, first baron Hunsdon. This 1741 engraving of a royal procession was based on an earlier painting by Robert Peake the Elder, a contemporary of the queen.
