Mills E. Godwin Endorsing School Segregation
In a campaign speech delivered on June 19, 1961, Mills E. Godwin sets forth his belief in the complete segregation of the public schools. Godwin was then running in the July primary for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor of Virginia. He won the primary and then the general election and served in that post from 1962 to 1966.
