Man’s Homespun Coat

A Virginia family preserved this jacket, made around 1780 from homespun fabric, and passed it down as an heirloom. According to family tradition, it was the uniform of a private in the American Revolution. It is currently in the collection of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
