John and Jeanne Warner at commissioning of USS John Warner

On August 1, 2015, the U.S. Navy commissioned a Virginia-class attack submarine to be named after Senator John Warner. This photograph shows Warner and his wife, Jeanne Vander Myde Warner, posing in front of the submarine at the event. Around 2,500 people attended the commissioning, held at Naval Station Norfolk. Virginia-class submarines are fitted with Virginia Payload Tubes that are less expensive than similar Cold War-era technology and have the capacity to fire Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles.
