Hunter’s Iron Works Advertisement in Virginia Gazette

This advertisement, placed in the September 14, 1776, issue of Dixon and Hunter’s Virginia Gazette, called for “a Number of Hands who understand the File,” as well as “Blacksmiths, and Nailers,” to work at Hunter’s Iron Works, an iron forge near Fredericksburg operated by Scottish merchant James Hunter. Employees could expect “Half Acre Lots of Land at a small Ground Rent for ever.”
