U.S. Military Prison on Johnson’s Island Lake Erie Ohio

A pen-and-ink sketch of the military prison on Johnson's Island in Ohio shows Union soldiers guarding the perimeter fence. A Confederate prisoner of war identified only as "M" made this drawing, which was included in an autograph book that he sent to Ann Frederick Pope of Bardstown, Kentucky, on October 20, 1864.
