House on Wolfe Street, The Dip neighborhood

This photograph shows a gutted house on Wolfe Street, in what was known as The Dip neighborhood in Alexandria. Local Black organizers worked for years on The Dip urban renewal project to ensure that no residents would be displaced. The project was one of the few urban renewal projects that successfully redeveloped an area without displacing local Black residents.
