House Destroyed by Hurricane Camille

This house, located in the Davis Creek community in Nelson County, barely stands after the remnants of Hurricane Camille dumped at least twenty-seven inches of rain on the county overnight on August 19-20, 1969. Flooding from area rivers and streams were compounded by landslides. There were over 3,700 landslides in the rural county from the deluge, resulting in devastating slides of mud and debris.
