“Little German Band”

A musical ensemble identified as German youths—a "Little German Band"— play on the streets of St. Louis in 1850. A sizeable number of German immigrants moved to Missouri in the nineteenth century. This daguerreotype was made by Thomas M. Easterly, a prominent photographic chronicler of the Midwest who operated a studio in St. Louis at that time.
