Gainsboro Debutante Ball

An elegantly dressed group of Black Gainsboro residents enjoy a banquet dinner with live music at a debutante ball in Roanoke. This photograph is part of the Clark Studio collection held by Roanoke Public Libraries. Herman Richard Clark's photography studio mostly served the Black community of Roanoke from the late 1940s to the early 1970s, capturing society events and prominent citizens.
