Fort Lewis Near Staunton

According to the caption on this postcard, the stone portion of this house is the surviving original structure of land speculator John Lewis’s eighteenth-century home, located about two miles east of Staunton. Lewis’s son Andrew Lewis was a military officer who served in the Seven Years’ War, Dunmore’s War, and as an officer in the American Revolution.
