File Holder Patent

Traverse Benjamin Pinn Sr. patented this file holder design on August 17, 1880. The holder’s design, which is a precursor to the modern metal file cabinet, allowed for, “the utmost convenience and facility in opening and closing to get and return files and papers,” without damaging the papers themselves.
