Eutaw Springs Battleground Park Monument
The Eutaw chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) fundraised for about three years to erect this granite monument commemorating the Battle of Eutaw Springs, South Carolina, which was unveiled in a public ceremony on September 24, 1912. The monument is engraved with the insignia of the D.A.R. and the inscription: “This stone marks the field whereon was fought the battle of Eutaw, September 8, 1781, between a force of the United States under Major General Nathanael Greene and a force of Great Britain under Colonel Stuart. Neither side was victorious, but the fight was beneficial to the American Cause. Erected by Eutaw Chapter D.A.R. 1912.” The marker is now part of the Eutaw Springs Battlefield Park, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and open to visitors.
