Chap. 80.— An ACT concerning descendants of indians and other persons of mixed blood, not being free negroes or mulattoes.
(Passed February 25th, 1833.)
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of the commonwealth of Virginia, That it shall be lawful for the several county courts of this commonwealth, upon satisfactory evidence of white persons being adduced before any such court, to grant to any free person of mixed blood, resident within such county, not being a white person nor a free negro or mulatto, a certificate that he or she is not a free negro or mulatto, which certificate shall be sufficient to protect and secure such person from and against the pains, penalties, disabilities and disqualifications, imposed by law upon free negroes and mulattoes, as free negroes and mulattoes.
2. This act shall be in force from the passing thereof.
