Emma Lewis
Young Emma Lewis skips rope in Vinegar Hill, her Charlottesville neighborhood, in 1963. This photograph was taken by white sixteen-year-old Gundars Osvalds, the photographer for his high school newspaper, who had learned of the urban renewal plans for Vinegar Hill and decided to document the soon-to-be-razed community.
