Eleanor Caroll Brent

Eleanor Carroll Brent, a member of the prominent Caroll family of Maryland, sat for this portrait by British artist John Wollaston with her husband William Brent around 1755. The Brents hung the complementary portraits side by side, so that the couple would face each other. Eleanor Brent died in 1756. The portrait is currently held by the Booth Family Center for Special Collections at Georgetown University.
