Dancer at Chickahominy Powwow
An Indigenous dancer performs in brightly colored traditional regalia at the 2018 Chickahominy Fall Festival and Powwow. The Chickahominy hosted several intertribal meetings in the early twentieth century—a sign of Indigenous cultural resurgence—and began a regular annual powwow in 1951. The gathering has grown into one of the best attended annual events in Charles City County.
