The Stonewall Brigade, under the command of Brigadier General Thomas J. Jackson, turns the tide of the First Battle of Manassas by making a critical stand on Henry House Hill. The brigade earns its nickname when, during this battle, Confederate Brigadier General Barnard E. Bee Jr. compares its commander to a “stone wall.”
