Devastation Along Davis Creek in Nelson County

A car in Nelson County remains hung up on an embankment after Davis Creek, at right, flooded its banks and then receded. On the night of August 19-20, 1969, remnants of Hurricane Camille dumped at least twenty-seven inches of rain in the rural county, ravaging the area and leaving 124 dead and causing over $100 million in damages.
