This map, created by British cartographer and army officer Daniel Paterson, shows the location and number of British forces in North America shortly after the Treaty of Paris (1763). A border drawn along the Appalachian Mountains separates British land from land “reserved for the Indians,” adhering to the Proclamation of 1763.
