Broad Street from the Corner of Wall Street
This is an illustration of Broad Street, from the corner of Wall Street in New York City, from around 1850. Even though the New York Stock exchange did not settle permanently on the corner of Broad and Wall streets until 1865, the area was already a bustling business district. Broad Street had at least one oyster bar as early as 1763, and by the early 19th century the restaurants were immensely popular.
