Theodorick Bland’s Signature

This is Continental Army officer Theodorick Bland’s signature as it appears on his March 1, 1779, report on the arrangement of the officers of the 1st Regiment of Light Dragoons, of which he was at that time the colonel. He sent the list, which included the dates of all officers’ appointments and promotions, to General George Washington. Bland uses the common practice at the time of contracting his first name.
