Beaurot Deed of Emancipation
A woman named Elizabeth Beaurot signed these emancipation papers in 1806 in Henrico County for seven people: John, Stephen, Joseph, Polley, Amey, Esther, and John. The papers identify all the emancipated people as being “originally of the Island of St. Domingo,” making it likely that Elizabeth was one of the people who fled Saint-Domingue during the Haitian Revolution.
