Beaumont Place, Home of the Eliot Family

Beaumont Place, seen here, was the St. Louis, Missouri, home of William Greenleaf Eliot and his wife, Abigail Adams Cranch Eliot. When Archer Alexander, an enslaved man, sought to free himself, he found refuge on their farm. While working in their garden he was attacked and dragged off by three slave catchers.
