The pencils are sharpened, the backpacks are stocked, and the class hamster is home—it must be back-to-school season, and Encyclopedia Virginia couldn’t be more excited! We’re reaching out during back-to-school season to ask for your continued support for this critical educational resource at a time of decreased federal funding for the humanities.

We believe that everyone deserves access to the full story of Virginia’s history, with rigorously fact-checked entries, state-of-the-art virtual tours, and rich media resources. That’s why we’re marking this September with a back-to-school fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $10,000. Can we count on your support to reach this goal?

• Maintain a state-of-the-art online resource that hosts more than 2 million visits annually, delivering trustworthy information to students, teachers, journalists, and learners of all ages.

• Produce more than 60 virtual tours, 1,300 entries, 1,100 primary resource transcriptions, and 10,000 media objects (and counting!)
• Support teachers with curriculum and professional development opportunities and an annual EV fellowship.
• Host free EntryPoint webinars that connect Virginia’s past to the present, bringing our expert contributors right to you.
• Continue to collaborate with Virginia’s tribal communities to bring their voices and perspectives to EV.
