In this letter from November 12, 1774, William Russell, who served as a captain in the Fincastle County militia during Lord Dunmore’s War, informs William Preston, a colonel in the militia, about efforts to defend Point Pleasant after the war. Russell also encloses a copy of the Fort Gower Resolves for Preston to send to Colonel William Christian. Russell was one of several men present for the drafting of both the Fort Gower Resolves and Fincastle Resolutions.
